Mitsuhiko Imamori was born in Shiga Prefecture in 1954. He works actively as a photographer based on his atelier in the countryside with a view of Lake Biwa. He has created his artworks through focusing on the relationship between humans and nature as in the “satoyama” spatial concept. He is also known as a cut-out artist who vividly represents shapes of nature by using scissors. His representative photography books include “Satoyama Monogatari (SATOYAMA in Harmony with Neighboring Nature) (Shinchosha Publishing Co., Ltd.),” “Mizube (Lakeside) (Sekai Bunka Publishing Inc.),” “Sekai Konchuki (Insects on Earth) (Fukuinkan Shoten Publishers Inc.),” and “Satoyama o Aruko (Let’s Walk Satoyama) (Iwanami Shoten Publishers).” He has been awarded many prizes including “The 20th Kimura Ihei Award (1994),” “The 28th Domon Ken Award (2009),” and “The 56th Shogakukan Children's Publication Culture Award (2007).”
