Matsusaka City is located roughly in the middle of Mie Prefecture. Some 70% of the city is covered in mountain forest. We are rebuilding logged areas in order to maintain the scenery and conserve the river fish such as Satsukimasu salmon and sweetfish and other rare organisms such as the Gifu butterfly and Japanese emperor butterfly found in the watershed of the Kushida River that flows through the city.
